Macon Co. "Right To Carry a Firearm" (RTCF) Initiative

After it was mentioned last night, I found some info via the Sangamom Co. Rifle Assoc regarding the RTCF.

Basically it would do a few things:

1.) Allow Macon Co. FOID holders to open carry.

2.) Allow the Sheriff to issue CCW for folks passing a more stringent test.

3.) Recognize permits from other states/counties

4.) Allow reciprocity with states/counties in #3.

The SCRA has a fantastic writeup in their September newsletter (PDF).

Mayor Hyde of Waukegan has the right idea!

Folks read this story about the recent Waukegan robbery. After you've read the article ask yourself the following questions:

1.) Isn't it amazing that the robbers was paroled after serving only 2 year of a 4 year sentance?

2.) "X-Cons Save Our Kids"?!? Seriously, what does that mean? I could understand a name a little less, um, "propaganda-esque", but "X-Cons Save Our Kids", c'mon!?

3.) Of course the robber, Starks was a choir-boy:

This was a very bright young man," Wells said. "He was reaching out to find his path in life."

Except that whole robbing people at gun point and burglary conviction thing...

Why is it that the media seems to do this everytime there is a shooting?

4.) While I do wonder what really happened, I will refer readers to a post we did in July regarding "Dynamic Motion" in a self defense situation. Just because the entry was towards the back doesn't mean that they didn't flinch or turn away from the imment threat. Read the whole thing here. Be sure to follow the link to the Force Science article and watch the animation.

Is it possible that forces like "Dynamic Motion" are in play here?

5.) The Mayor and citizens of Waukegan get it. Any chance that they'd come to support the Pro-2A resolution like Oswego Township did in Kendall County?

"Any time you point a gun at me and if I've got a gun and I've got the opportunity, I'm going to use it on you," Waukegan Mayor Richard Hyde said. "With society the way it is now and with the number of armed robberies you have, you've got to fight back."

Dennis McClintock, 59, a customer who said he lives in the neighborhood, said: "If someone robbed me, I'd defend myself too."
