R.I.P.
It is with sadnesss and compassion we say farewell to a great american. Charlton Heston, hailed from our state of Illinois, he was a Non-Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and followed his american dream with the G.I. Bill to Northwestern University. Mr. Heston went into stage acting after college and even graced our county at the Woodstock Opera House on stage, before making a name for himself in Hollywood. Mr. Heston always stood for civil rights, equality and freedom, during the tumultuous years of rampant anti-second amendment legislation by our federal government , Mr. Heston stood fast for our rights and offered hope to freedom loving law-abiding citizens, as the President of the National Rifle Association of America.
We also say farewell to MCSA Charter Member Nicholas Freund, another great american. Nick also served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Nick came home and was one of the founding members of the McHenry Rescue Squad. Nick was the co-owner of "From the Neck Up" for 32 years. Nick bravely faced cancer and didn't let it stop him from going to Springfield IL in March for Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day (IGOLD) to stand up for our civil rights. Nick's presence will be greatly missed.
